ABOUT MESTRE BOM JESUS
Bom Jesus was born in Bom Jesus City, ES, Brazil, where his interest in capoeira began at the age of ten. He began his formal training under Mestre Capixaba. After years of training he opened his own school in Vilha Velha, Brazil, where he taught for five years. In 1991 he decided to come to the United States to teach capoeira. He soon became a member of Dance Brazil by invitation from Mestre Jelon Vieira, with whom he toured internationally for a number of years. He has also been teaching in New York City since that time. He also gives regular workshops at Yale university in New Haven, CT. He opened the Capoeira Performance Arts Center in October of 2002.  In 2005, Bom Jesus was promoted to red cord, the level of Mestre, by his teacher Mestre Capixaba.
